Young Chef’s Competition – Camps Bay High School

Young Chef’s Competition. This past weekend, Grade 12 Consumer Studies students Fawaz Sarlie and Dante Perucatti represented Camps Bay High School at the WCED Young Chef’s Competition. It was hosted by The International Hotel School. They were accompanied by Ms. Dineo Samu, the Head of Consumer Studies.

Dante impressed the judges with his Pan-Fried Chicken Breast served with a creamy garlic mushroom sauce, golden potato fries, and steamed broccoli. He ultimately took first place for Camps Bay High School. Rhenish High School placed second, and Springfield Convent came third.

As part of his prize, Dante has been awarded a 100% bursary to study towards the Professional Cookery Programme and a four-week internship with the Executive Chef at the prestigious Taj Mahal Hotel.

Ms. Dineo Samu shared her pride, saying: “I’m so proud of both Dante and Fawaz. They worked hard to prepare and really gave it their all on the day. Dante’s dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour — he truly earned that top spot. It’s a fantastic achievement for him and for our school.”
