Western Cape Long Course A. 🏊 Somerset College Swimming Update.

Somerset College is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Nia O’Carroll (Grade 9), who continues to shine in the pool as a competitive swimmer with Stellenbosch Aquatics. Nia has qualified to represent at the Western Cape Long Course A Championships, taking place in Malmesbury from 4–8 December 2025 — a prestigious event showcasing the province’s finest swimmers.

Nia’s Achievements

  • Qualified in 13 events across all strokes — a remarkable accomplishment at her age.
  • Selected to compete in 9 events, demonstrating both versatility and endurance:
    • Freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m & 400m
    • Backstroke: 50m, 100m & 200m
    • Breaststroke: 100m
    • Individual Medley: 200m

Dedication Behind the Success

Nia’s qualification is the result of:

  • Countless hours of training in the pool.
  • An intensive 27-day land-training block, building strength and resilience.
  • Her unwavering commitment, discipline, and passion for swimming.
