The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education hosted the prestigious Umlazi District Excellence Awards 2025, a celebration of academic brilliance across 168 high schools in the district.
Durban Girls’ High School emerged as a beacon of excellence, earning recognition in multiple categories and ultimately being crowned the Top Performing School in the District.

- Business Studies: Thobeka Ndlovu – 1st Place
- English HL: Yuvti Jaglal – 3rd Place
- IsiZulu FAL: Zandiswa Makhubu – 3rd Place
- History: Sinethemba Mthembu – 1st Place
Durban Girls’ High School was officially announced as the Top Performing School in the Umlazi District, a testament to the dedication of its learners, educators, and leadership team.
