KwaZulu-Natal – St Mary’s DSG proudly celebrates Hadassah’s Second Dan achievement in JKA Karate.

St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls, Kloof, is honoured to recognise Hadassah, a Grade 10 learner. She has achieved her Second Dan (Nidan) black belt in JKA Karate after a decade of dedicated training.

Achievements

Hadassah’s journey indeed reflects extraordinary perseverance and discipline. As a deaf karateka with vestibular instability, she has also overcome unique challenges. She furthermore learned to lip‑read Japanese and worked tirelessly to strengthen her balance. Her unwavering commitment has culminated in this prestigious milestone.

Mentorship & contribution

Guided by inspiring mentors, including Old Girl Sensei Aimee Harding (Class of 2021), Hadassah has flourished into both a skilled karateka and a valued coach. At the Highway Dojo at St Mary’s, she now mentors younger karatekas and embodies the values of perseverance, humility, and integrity.

The St. Mary’s community is certainly deeply proud of Hadassah’s achievement and the example she sets for her peers. Her story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of mentorship.

“Hadassah’s journey inspires us all. She has shown that true strength lies not only in skill but in character, and we celebrate her as a role model for the Saints family.”
