Makhanda – The Graeme College u-13A cricket side returned from Cape Town with pride after competing in the prestigious Cape Schools Cricket Festival. Wynberg Boys’ Junior School hosted the festival. The team recorded two victories from four fixtures, showcasing resilience, skill, and the ability to challenge top‑tier opposition.
Day 1 — Double T20 Success
Graeme College opened their campaign with a thrilling four‑wicket win over SACS. Seamers Daniel Coetsee and Liam Brooks struck early, while sharp fielding from Lubambo Mabini and Linathi Ntabeni restricted SACS to 95/5. Coetsee’s unbeaten 35 guided Graeme home. Later that day, Graeme stunned Paarl Boys with a six‑wicket triumph. Despite slipping to 18/4, Matthew Webber (50)* and Josh Potts (23)* staged a superb recovery, sharing a 76‑run stand to seal victory.
Day 2 — Hosts Fight Back
Against Wynberg, Graeme’s bowlers dominated, with Jadon Byren starring at 3/14 as the hosts were dismissed for 83. However, Graeme’s batting faltered, collapsing to 46 all out and conceding a 37‑run defeat.
Day 3 — Bishops Challenge
Facing Bishops, Graeme College showed early fire with a direct‑hit run‑out of Asemahle Mkhomato and two wickets from Brooks. Bishops rallied to 166 all out, and despite Webber’s 24, Graeme fell short by 41 runs.
The festival provided invaluable lessons and unforgettable experiences. Graeme College extends heartfelt thanks to Wynberg Boys’ Junior School for hosting and to the SACS families for their generous hospitality.

Well done, boys — a proud tour that strengthens belief and builds the future of Graeme cricket.
