Pietermaritzburg, KZN — Last weekend, the Senior Performance Dance Company of St John’s D.S.G. proudly took the stage at the Dance Waves Competition, one of the largest and most prestigious dance events originating in Belgium and the Netherlands, now hosted in South Africa.
Competing against some of KwaZulu-Natal’s top dance schools, the team delivered outstanding performances, earning second and third place in the fiercely contested modern/contemporary and jazz divisions. These categories featured some of the most formidable talent in the competition, making the achievement all the more impressive.
The school was also represented by two exceptional soloists, Molly O and Bronwyn L, who captivated audiences and judges alike with their artistry and emotional depth. Dancing with both excellence and heart, they stood out among 33 of the province’s most gifted performers.
Miss Jessica Anderson, Choreographer and Director of the Senior Performance Company, shared her pride:
“It has been an incredible and hugely successful year for our Senior Performance Company. From performing internationally to showcasing our work on multiple stages and holding our own against the top dance schools in KZN at competition level—I am beyond proud of everything these dancers have achieved. Their talent, commitment, and passion have made this a truly remarkable year for dance at St John’s D.S.G.!”
