Affies put Jeppe to the sword, over the weekend in a high scoring match.

Four teams run riot in weekend’s most dominant displays

Whilst some schools were scrapping tooth and nail for every point this weekend, four sides delivered masterclasses in ruthless efficiency, putting their opponents to the sword with clinical, dominant performances that left no doubt about the pecking order.

Affies crush Jeppe’s dreams in 78-10 demolition

The scoreboard read 10-0 to Jeppe after just ten minutes, and the travelling faithful must have dared to dream. An upset of seismic proportions seemed on the cards. Then reality crashed down with devastating force.

Affies responded with five unanswered tries before the break, demonstrating the kind of champagne rugby that has become their calling card. Quick ball, clinical finishing, and a forward pack marching downfield with frightening pace, the Blue Bulls feeder school took a commanding 31-10 lead into the sheds.

If Jeppe harboured hopes of a second-half resurgence, they were extinguished within minutes of the restart. One-way traffic doesn’t begin to describe it. Every time the Black and White threatened to build momentum, a crucial error would gift possession back to a rampant Affies.

By the final whistle, Jeppe looked despondent, the fight visibly draining from their bodies. The final scoreline, 78-10, told the story of a side that had been utterly overwhelmed.

Paarl Gim’s relentless machine rolls on

In the Western Cape, Paarl Gimnasium extended their remarkable winning streak with a comprehensive 64-15 dismantling of Boland Landbou.

Credit where it’s due, Boland came out firing, racing to a 7-0 lead with an intensity rarely seen from them this campaign. For a fleeting moment, an upset looked possible.

Then Paarl Gim flicked the switch.

When this Gim side gets quick ball, they’re dangerous. When they get quick ball and find their rhythm, they’re virtually unstoppable. Landbou were powerless to halt the onslaught as Gim surged to a 29-10 advantage by halftime.

The second stanza offered no respite. With four minutes remaining and the scoreboard reading 57-10, Boland managed a consolation try, a small moment of pride before Gim had the final say to finish 64-15.

That’s eight consecutive victories by commanding margins for Paarl Gim. They’ve become a juggernaut that precious few sides possess the weaponry to stop.

Virseker Noordvaal Plate: Kempton and Zwartkop flex their muscles

In the Virseker Noordvaal Plate division, Kemptonpark produced a statement performance against Oos Moot, running out 52-8 victors despite a competitive opening quarter.

The first 20 minutes were tightly contested, with Oos Moot holding a slender 7-8 advantage. Then Kempton hit the afterburners. A yellow card for Oos Moot, ten minutes in the sin bin at the worst possible moment, opened the floodgates.

By halftime, Kempton had surged to a 33-8 lead. Oos Moot managed to stem the bleeding slightly after the break, but with ten minutes on the clock, Kempton made their chances count, crossing the whitewash multiple times to finish 52-8 to the good.

Meanwhile in Centurion, Zwartkop welcomed Transvalia, and delivered a 54-19 masterclass that was close for one half only.

Zwartkop held a 16-5 advantage at the interval, their boot keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Transvalia fought valiantly, but the hosts proved relentless after the break, turning pressure into points with clinical precision to run out comfortable 54-19 winners.

In a weekend that showcased both the beautiful brutality and fine margins of schools rugby, these four sides reminded everyone that when class meets execution, the result can be devastatingly one-sided.
