Police are investigating after security guards found about 40kg of suspected cannabis at one of Kruger National Park’s entrance gates.
The discovery happened during routine security checks at Malelane Gate on Sunday. Security staff found the dagga in a vehicle belonging to a park concessionaire.
South African National Parks (SANParks) confiscated the suspected cannabis and handed it to the South African Police Service for investigation. No arrests have been confirmed yet.
SANParks said the find was part of ongoing security and access control measures to protect the park and ensure everyone follows the law.
The organisation said it has a zero-tolerance approach to any illegal activities in its national parks and will continue supporting law enforcement to fight crime.
SANParks will not comment further while the police investigation continues.
