Police intensify search for long-serving reservist last seen three weeks ago

Moabi Alex Thekiso (50), a long-serving reservist at Excelsior SAPS, has been missing since Friday, 31 July . Also known as Muvas or Modoi, Thekiso was last seen wearing a brown jacket and grey jeans. EXCELSIOR – Free State police have renewed their appeal to the public for assistance in locating 50-year-old Moabi Alex Thekiso, a long-serving reservist attached to Excelsior police, who has been missing since Friday 31 July.

Thekiso, who is also known as Muvas or Modoi, works under the station’s rural safety coordinator and is a familiar figure in the community. He lives in Mahlatswetsa, but regularly travels to Ficksburg, Clocolan, Ladybrand, Mangaung and Bufulo Trust in Thaba Nchu to visit relatives.

According to police, Thekiso was last seen by his younger brother on Thursday 30 July, the day before he disappeared. He was wearing a brown jacket and grey jeans at the time.

His disappearance has left his family deeply concerned, while police continue to follow-up on information that could help establish his whereabouts. Members of the public who may have seen Thekiso, know of his movements or have any information that could assist with the investigation are urged to come forward.

Information can be provided to Sergeant Mapheello Sekolanyane at Ladybrand Police Station, Joel Thekiso in Mangaung or Captain Ouma Motale of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Ladybrand on 071 686 0393.
