PHOENIX, Kwazulu-Natal – A 16-year-old boy who was believed to have been suspended from school for vaping was found dead in an outbuilding at his parents’ home in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday morning.
He was discovered by his mother, who, with assistance, forced open the door of the outbuilding to find his lifeless body.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) spokesperson Prem Balram, his mother noticed a figure in the outbuilding whilst she was doing household chores.
Reaction officers from Rusa responded to her call and, on arrival, forced open the door to find his body.
The reaction officers were informed by the family that the teenager was a Grade 10 learner at Crystal Point Secondary School in Phoenix.
Apparently, the boy had recently been suspended from school after he was found vaping. He returned to school briefly after the suspension but became depressed and refused to attend classes.
On Tuesday, he left home at approximately 15:00, appearing upset, and failed to return, the family told Rusa.
