A 38-year-old woman has been arrested on charges of fraud and forgery after allegedly using falsified financial statements to obtain vehicle finance for eight Volkswagen Polo cars.
The suspect was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Bellville following the execution of a warrant of arrest.
According to the Hawks, the alleged offences date back to April 2019, when the suspect visited Barons Volkswagen in Tokai and applied for credit to purchase a fleet of eight VW Polo vehicles.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, to face the charges.
