CAPE TOWN–Pinelands police are investigating two counts of murder and a case of attempted murder following a shooting incident at Fisher Avenue, Epping 1, on Friday 16 October at about 06:00.

Provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col F.C. van Wyk said that, according to reports, a taxi owner and two passengers arrived in a grey Audi to visit his two taxis that were loading passengers in front of a factory.

“A white Toyota Quantum suddenly blocked him. About six unidentified males got out of the taxi and randomly started shooting at them while they were seated in the Audi. All three occupants jumped out of the vehicle and the two passengers were shot and killed. The Audi’s owner, who was driving, managed to escape unharmed,” said Van Wyk.

Suspects fled in second taxi

He said the suspects ran down the street and jumped into another taxi, which sped off. The motive is believed to be taxi-related.

Anyone with information about this fatal shooting is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Lieutenant Colonel Magadla, of the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit on 082 411 3245 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
