Paarl Hockey Club Men 1st is still going strong post-second match in the last half of the season.

Playing in the promotion league means if they hold onto their number 1 spot they will be promoted to the Grand Challenge. This is the top-tier league in the Western Province.

On Saturday 27 July Paarl’s men’s 1st team beat Pinelands 1st 9-1, with goals scored by Carlon Mentoor (5), Louw Pienaar, Matt Smith, Jorich Murray and Francois Lourens.

All other matches were postponed due to the stormy weather.

On Sunday 28 July Paarl men, over 35, lost to WPCC Black Widow’s 2-5, with their goals scored by Peter Dreyer and Gavin Cupido.

Coming weekend fixtures:

Sunday 4 August – Men’s 1st play Van der Stel 1st on Stellenbosch at 13:30

Men’s 2nd plays Langa 3rd on Langa at 13:30. Ladies’ 2nd plays Conberg 5th on Conberg at 13:30
