This past weekend the men and women’s teams of Paarl Hockey Club got off to a good start to the 2024 hockey season with good performances.

On Saturday 6 April the women’s first team drew with Stellenberg 3-3 on Paarl Gymnasium’s astroturf with goals being scored by Alanda Rademeyer (2) and Angie du Plessis (1).

The ladies second team lost against their neighbours Franschhoek Dragons first team 2-3 at Bridge House with goals by Nicolette van der Walt and Chantelle Browne.

The men’s second team beat UCT’s fifth team 6-0 on Hares UCT home turf, with goals by Stefan Wiehan (3) and Ben Beukes (3).

The men’s u-35 team beat Cape Town Club 4–0 at Paarl Gymnasium, with goals by Burger Malan (2), Charlie Kotze (1) and Wilhelm Voges (1).

On Sunday 7 April the men’s first team won against UCT’s second team 7-1 on UCT’s home turf, with goals by Cou Pienaar (3), Nicholas Neethling (2), Jannie van den Heever (1) and Carlon Mentoor (1).

Men’s 1st plays Durbanville 1st on Curro Durbanville at 13:30

Men’s 2nd plays Durbanville 2nd on Curo Durbanville at 18:00

Men’s u-35 play Fish Hoek on Wynberg at 13:30

Mixed u-35 plays Pinelands on Pinelands High at 13:30

Sunday 14 April:

Women’s 1st plays UCT 2nd on Hares at 15:00

Women’s 2nd plays Van der Stel 2nd on Stellenbosch at 18:00
