The police are investigating several cases of business burglary following a number of break-ins at Nederburg Primary School in Paarl, with the suspects still unknown.
Const Ndakhe Gwala, a police spokesperson, confirmed that cases had been registered following the break-ins.
Ndakhe says the suspects have not yet been identified, pending a forensic report.
According to Bronagh Hammond, a spokesperson for the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), the Cape Winelands district recorded 13 incidents of burglary and vandalism during the recent September/October school holidays.

She says a total of 49 such incidents were reported across the province during the same period.
Hammond says the department’s Safe Schools programme had received no reports of vandalism from Nederburg Primary School in 2026.
The department has also enquired with the district office about whether any reports had been made through other channels.
Schools are required to report vandalism to the Safe Schools centre to ensure that the necessary support and assistance can be provided.
Paarl Post contacted the school for comment, but received no response by deadline.
