AC Blume has been appointed new headmaster at Paarl Boys’ High, effective 1 January 2027.

The school governing body of Paarl Boys’ High School has announced the appointment of AC Blume as headmaster, effective from 1 January 2027, following confirmation by the Western Cape Education Department.

Blume will succeed Derek Swart, who retired in December 2024 after more than 17 years of service at the school. Since Swart’s retirement, Nollies de Vries has served as acting headmaster, providing steady leadership and ensuring continuity. The school governing body expressed appreciation for De Vries’ contribution and dedication during this period.

De Vries welcomed Blume’s appointment and expressed enthusiasm for the school’s future.

Blume currently serves as deputy rector at Paul Roos Gimnasium, a position he has held since January 2022. He was previously affiliated with Hilton College and Woodridge College. He has extensive experience in boys’ education, boarding schools and pastoral care. During his career, Blume has distinguished himself as an educator and leader committed to the holistic development of young men. His experience across academic, sporting, cultural and boarding environments positions him to lead Paarl Boys’ High into its next chapter.

The school governing body, staff, learners, parents and old boys welcomes Blume and his family to the Paarl community. The school community wished Blume well as he prepares to assume his new role, building on the traditions and values that have characterised the school since 1868.
