A fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning (00:45) in Disa and Pointsettia Streets in Paarl East. Seven families lost all their belongings when their informal houses were engulfed in flames. Residents who would like to assist the victims can contact Cllr Laurichia van Niekerk on 081 885 8365. No lives were lost in the fire. According to Mbekweni police spokesperson WO Nceba Vanqa the cause of the fire, which broke out in Disa Street, was still unknown. In another incident on Tuesday evening, a fire swept through six pigsties in Vlakkeland and seven pigs were burnt.
