AfriForum is pushing the government to accept free internet from SpaceX for more than 5,000 rural schools. The offer is worth R500 million and could help 2.4 million children. But the government requires at least 30% black ownership of any licence-holder. SpaceX founder Elon Musk has called the requirements racially discriminatory and refused to comply. AfriForum says the children should come first.

In other news, police have seized cocaine worth more than R200 million at OR Tambo International Airport. Officers found 216 blocks weighing 250 kilograms in five bags on Saturday. 116 drug mules have been arrested there over the past two years.

In the courts, a judge has found the Minister of Police responsible after Suzette Paradza’s car was stripped of its engine in police custody. Her Volkswagen Golf was held at a storage facility in Pretoria West. The court rejected a form she was made to sign releasing police from blame. How much she may receive will be decided later.
