Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is hosting regional science fairs across South Africa, providing a platform for young scientists.

These fairs offer learners in Gr. 4 to Gr. 12, along with learners from the TVET Colleges that are in National Certificate (NC)2 to NC4, the opportunity to present and discuss their scientific investigations across various fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI).

Participants will engage with judges, teachers, learners of other schools, parents, and other interested individuals.

At the fairs young scientists will compete for the highly coveted opportunity to represent their region and province at the Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF) at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg from 3 to 6 October.

Eskom Expo regional science fair dates, venues and project submission deadlines for the area are as follows:

  • Namaqua (Aggeneys): 1 and 2 August, Recreational Club, deadline: 28 July;
  • Kimberley: 4 and 5 August, Sol Plaatje University Community Hall, deadline: 27 July;
  • Kalahari: 17 and 18 August, Curro Kathu School, deadline: 14 August.
