The launch of the second book of a young man from Ritchie will take place in Kimberley later this month.
On 17 February, Godwin Taweni’s book, Called 2 be different, will be launched during a black-tie event in the city.
Taweni (22), who describes himself as, amongst others, a professional model, pageant judge, model coach and motivational speaker, currently resides in Johannesburg.
He says his first book, with the title Called to be different, tells a story of his life. It was published in Kindle edition in September 2020 and is aimed at the youth. He wrote it at the age of 16 years, and it was launched and published a few years later.
“It is a journey I do not regret taking, as I know that in pain, brokenness, and failure, knowledge, wisdom and life lessons are gained. Everything I have achieved thus far is out of hunger for success,” says Taweni.
His first book speaks about his upbringing, how he fought poverty, of the urge to fit in and be a normal teenager, and realising he was called to be different to make a difference. The second book deals with the next stage of his life.
Taweni attended the Kgabang Primary School in Ritchie, then William Pescod in Kimberley for the first three years of high school, and completed this journey at the Geluksdal Secondary School in Johannesburg. Taweni has made appearances in TV shows, and other public channels.
“My motive is to inspire, empower, build, encourage, make a difference, and to bring change amongst my generation.”
The ticket for the launch includes a meal, copy of the book, and a photo shoot. To obtain a ticket, dial or send a WhatsApp to 063-960-3905 or 073-376-0923, send an email to godwinitaweni20@gmail.com, or visit Godwin Taweni Model/Author on Facebook.
