The launch of two of Dr Garth Benneyworth’s books takes place on Saturday, 9 December, at 11:00 at the Magersfontein Battlefield Museum.
These books are titled, The battle of Magersfontein: victory and defeat on the South African veld, 10-12 December 1899 and Work or Starve. Black concentration camps and forced labour camps in South Africa. 1901-1902.
Benneyworth is a historian specialising in the South African War (1899-1902) and the War for Southern Africa (1960-1994).
His works is internationally recognised for its contribution to a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of conflict, and its impact on history and society. Over 30 years of research informs these two books.
