A ten-ton truckload of gem squash was distributed within hours to several non-profit organisations in Kimberley.
After the motorcycle club, CC Riders Kimberley, heard of a farmer in the Petrusburg area who has gem squash to donate, they collected the truckload on Thursday, 15 February, and distributed it on Friday within hours.
Mike Muller, chairperson, says the club’s footprint is based on helping needy individuals and non-profitable organisations.
“The club has a list of such organisations on our database and on Friday we were able to add more.”
Muller says the club and its members are always on the look-out to see where they can render support and do upliftment work.
“People were overjoyed to receive these gem squash as it has high nutritional value, and they already knew how they will prepare it to be able to provide a respectful plate of food.”
A representative of one organisation commented that the gem squash they received was distributed to seven soup kitchens.
This year, CC Riders Kimberley celebrates its 46th birthday, and the club is grateful to faithful sponsors that support them.
