The 30th Casual Day, an annual fundraising campaign of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), was this year observed on 6 September. The theme, “I see you”, recognises the inherent worth, dignity, and uniqueness of everyone, while also seeing their challenges and potential. On the day, senior officers of the SAPS in the Northern Cape visited the Boitumelo Special School for children with special needs in Galeshewe, joined by residents of Yonder, a centre for adult persons living with a disability. Dorothy-Anne Howitson, a polio survivor and of the Association of and for Persons with Disabilities (APD) in the Frances Baard District, thanks everyone who contributed to this day and the lives of those living with a disability.
