In a vehicle accident on 20 September, 4 members of the 8 SA Infantry Battalion in Upington passed away, 2 were critically injured and 9 sustained minor injuries.
They were on their way to the SA Army Combat Training Centre at Lohatla to take part in Exercise Vukuhlome. During the accident a Samil 50 truck was towing another Samil 50. The one truck experienced a front right tyre burst, causing both to roll.
