A special drop-and-go initiative to support the objectives of World Hunger Day, takes place on Saturday (27/05) in Kimberley.
The Kimberley Harriers Running Club, heading the initiative, invites everyone, especially athletes, to make a donation before or after their morning run.
The club says non-runners are equally welcome to make a donation.
On this day, from 07:00 to 12:00, everyone is invited to donate non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, mielie meal, sugar and other essentials at the drop-and-go-gazebo which will be erected at the Engen filling station in Oliver Road. Cash donations are also welcomed.
All donations and contributions will directly support Meals on Wheels Northern Cape, which provides much-needed aid to those in need daily.
Meals on Wheels Northern Cape is a non-profit organisation operating from Kimberley, and who provides cooked meals to the poorest of the poor, vulnerable persons, children, and the elderly in and around Kimberley.
On worldhungerday.org it is stated that more than 800 million people are hungry every day – and yet a third of all food is wasted.
World Hunger Day, taking place on Sunday (28/05), is an opportunity for people around the world to play their part in ending world hunger.
