History was made when Shadrack Selaledi of the Teemaneng Running Club in Kimberley bettered the long-standing Athletics Griqualand West (AGW) Cross Country 8 km male record in the age group 40 to 44 years on Saturday, 19 August.

Selaledi bettered the record from 33:06 to an impressive 27:51.

This happened when AGW hosted its Cross Country Championships this weekend towards the Athletics South Africa (ASA) National Cross Country Championships on 16 September in Gqeberha.

A total of 255 athletes registered across the various events of 1 km, 2 km, 3 km, 4 km, 6 km and 8 km.
