A R1 million reward is offered by SBV Services after a cash-in-transit heist early this morning (05/08) in Kimberley, during which an SBV employee was killed.

This reward is offered for information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of suspects involved in the loss of life of an SBV employee in the cash-in-transit heist.

“We are extremely saddened to report the loss one of our team members in a callous attack on one of our vehicles this morning in Kimberley,” the statement read.

Mark Barrett, Group CEO of SBV Services says, “On behalf of the entire company, I wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.

“Three members of the team have been injured and are being treated in hospital. Our thoughts are with our team members and their families for the trauma sustained because of this attack.

“We are offering a reward of R1 million in response to the senseless loss of our colleague and SBV will double up its efforts to ensure that all the individuals involved in this attack will be brought to book and face the full consequence of the law.”

“SBV will not tolerate any attack that places our employee’s lives and health at risk. Our message to these criminals is clear: SBV will put in all the necessary resources required and work very closely with the authorities to apprehend these criminals involved in attacks against SBV,” Barrett adds.

“We confirm that we will never close a case until it is solved. We will make sure that these criminals involved in this senseless and violent attack are apprehended and that justice is served.

“We extend our thanks to the paramedics at the scene and the medical professionals at the hospital who are providing expert care for our colleagues,” Barrett concludes.

SBV cannot comment further as an investigation is underway and are cooperating with the SAPS as they investigate.

  • According to the police statement received earlier today, the heist took place at about 04:55 along the R31 just outside Kimberley. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in  taxi. The police are on the lookout for the getaway vehicle, which has been established to be either a Hyundai H1 or Toyota Quantum.
