To provide a playful learning environment that nurtures and supports hospitalised children, a playroom has been designed at the Hester Malan Hospital in Douglas.
Funded by Boikanyo Solar, this space provides a safe and engaging environment for children up to six years old who receive medical treatment. The space includes educational learning materials, age-appropriate toys, plastic tables and chairs, storage units, bookshelves, curtains, and other resources to create a welcoming and stimulating environment.
“We are thrilled to support the hospital playroom initiative to encourage children’s innovative thinking and ensure they do not miss out on educational opportunities while receiving medical care,” said Stephaline Fanie, Boikanyo Solar’s community liaison officer.
“We express our deepest gratitude to Boikanyo Solar for their support in creating this playroom,” said Sr. Dimakatso Malgas, operations manager at the hosital.
“The impact of this initiative on the children and our healthcare professionals cannot be understated. The playroom will provide a joyful and stimulating environment for the children, while our healthcare staff, particularly the physiotherapist, will benefit from spending quality time with the little ones”.
