In the town of Alhaurín de la Torre, in Málaga, Spain, plastic awnings have been used for years to shade walkways. Now the city council has decided on a more eco-friendly solution. This came in the form of Eva Pachecho, a local crochet teacher, and her students using recycled fabric to crochet an assemblage of sunshades. They have been adding to it for the past three winters, and put it up in summer. Currently it covers 500 m2.
