An official of the Siyathemba Local Municipality in the Prieska area was found guilty of fraud and the forgery of her qualifications.
Patricia Staffa, a licence testing official, was sentenced in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Kimberley to a fine of R60 000 or three years imprisonment.
Mojalefa Senokoatsane, regional spokesperson of the National Prosecution Authority, said she applied for a post advertised by the municipality.
She misrepresented herself when submitting a CV, and claimed to have a matric certificate, which she later forged.
