The Kenhardt Youth Development Project (KYDP) started Women’s Month by donating much-needed clothing and products for mothers and babies at the Kenhardt Community Health Centre (CHC).
The KYDP, a non-profitable organisation, had recently learnt from the Kenhardt NCHC’s nurse Anecke Joubertof the CHC that there were many cases of mothers gaving birth at the clinic without having a hospital bag preparedpacked for themselves or for the baby.
Joubert told the KYDP-team that she had been buying salediscounted items at a local shop to help these mothers and babies.
The KYDP decided to assist, and with the help of the I Can SisterHood, based in Cape Town, they were able to hand over baby clothing – including vests, pants, crawlers, caps, socks and knitted jerseys – as well as toiletries for both the mom and baby.
Anyone who wants to assist the project can donatehand over items that are suitable for newborn babies and their mothers to Joubert at the centre.
