In the past week, several drug dealers or drug transporters in the Northern Cape were arrested and charged.
On Monday (24/07) police searched a taxi enroute on the N12 from North West to Springbok, and found dagga with an estimated street value of R76 500 concealed in black bags. A 55-year-old male was arrested and charged, said Lt. Col. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson.
In Port Nolloth, a snifferdog of the K9 unit, directed police to dagga valued at R813 000, hidden in a car in the Sizamile location. The dagga was seized and the suspect arrested.
Other drugs, including cocaine, Mandrax and tik valued at R21 750 were also confiscated and two more suspects arrested.
