A 65-year-old man from Roodepan, Kimberley, was arrested on Saturday, 28 January, for possession of suspected stolen property.
A total of 33 copper Cobra T-joints and ten copper Cobra taps to the value of R20 325 were confiscated.
Prior to the arrest, members of the Roodepan Police Station responded to information received of possible illegal business dealings at a scrapmetal business in Eagle Street, Roodepan. A normal compliance inspection was activated at the said premises, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Sgt Timothy Sam of Galeshewe Communications, said the suspect is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of possession of stolen property.
Jansen lauded the police members for the meticulous and professional search that led to the arrest and recovery of suspected stolen property.
He said this arrest will serve as a deterrent to those that seem to be a market for this kind of crimes.
