A 42-year-old man was arrested after suspected stolen goods, and equipment suspected to be used in the execution of crime, were found in his possession.

Members of the police in Deben, with the assistance of the Community Policing Forum (CPF), and the Deben and Kuruman neighbourhood watches, were executing a vehicle check point (VCP) on Saturday, 12 August, at about 21:30.

Capt. Mosimaneotsile Letsapa, police spokesperson, said during this VCP they stopped a taxi without number plates.

Upon further investigation, the members found four solar panels, a pair of binoculars, a pipe, wrench, and spanners inside the taxi.

The suspect was arrested after failing to provide reason for being in possession of the items.

Maj. Gen. Johnny Besnaar, commissioner of the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) district, applauded all those involved in assisting the police combat crime.

The suspect will soon appear before the Kathu Magistrates’ Court on a charge of being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
