On Saturday, 20 May, ensembles of the Kimberley Academy of Music (KAM) are in concert with the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir (BCC) in Kimberley.

The concert takes place in the St Cyprian’s Cathedral, which has the longest nave of any church in South Africa.

The KAM jazz band, saxophone and clarinet ensembles, Neapolitan Medley, Ad Libitum Chorale, the Kimberley Children’s Choir and the junior band will also perform.

The BCC was established 36 years ago and has since performed on various stages across the world. In 2020, the choir appointed Werner Stander as its director of music and continued on an exciting path towards the future.

To celebrate 35 years of excellence, the choir was invited to Belgium in 2022 due to a longstanding relationship with the “Beschermcomité van het Bloemfontein Kinderkoor”. The choir has toured Belgium in 1998, 2004, 2010 and in 2017 – and the 2022 tour included France and Germany. The tour was concluded with a performance at Disneyland Paris.

  • Saturday’s concert commences at 19:00 at the cathedral in Du Toitspan Road, Kimberley.
  • Tickets at R100 per adult and R50 per primary school learner can be purchased at the door, or at Dial a Bake in the North Cape Mall.
