Young and old gathered on Saturday, 24 February, at the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley to take part in its second annual Community Big Walk, which entails walking a distance of 4,9 km through mainly the different campuses and parts of the city. The idea behind the event is to embrace the community in which the SPU works, and Prof. Andrew Crouch, vice-chancellor and principal, said earlier that in this way the SPU raises awareness in support of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. On Saturday, Crouch and the Sol Plaatje Municipality’s mayor, Kagisho Sonyoni, took the lead on the walk. Each participant received a medal, while good engagement, networking, and fun took place along the way.Photo: Facebook/Sol Plaatje University
