In response to a call to assist the Coetzee family from the Cillie Village in Kakamas, the chairman of the Collen Mashawana Foundation, together with his delegation and Dr Zamani Saul, Northern Cape premier, amongst others, handed over a newly-built home to the family of nine.

The family has been living in a dilapidated two-room shack and relying on R4 400 per month from social grants. The foundation built the family a three-bedroom house, which was officially handed over early in September.

The oldest of the family, Dirk Coetzee, could hardly contain his excitement.

The foundation challenges other organisations and individuals to be active citizens in initiatives that improve lives.
