Amidst a heat wave with temperatures on some days soaring above 40 °C, residents of the Northern Cape capital were caught off-guard with an unplanned and emergency water shutdown.

Kimberley residents were informed on Tuesday afternoon, 21 November, of an interruption in water supply from 16:00, although in most areas there was already no water.

A week later and by the time of going to press, water supply was still very unstable.
