The spokesperson of the Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley, Thoko Riet, announced on Tuesday (19/07) that their colleague, Faiek Adams, passed away.
Adams, who worked at the electrical department of the municipality, was injured on 29 June when working at the Aviva mini substation in Hillcrest, Kimberley, where a fault occurred that started a fire. The substation and its cables were destroyed in the fire. Adams was rushed to hospital with severe burn injuries.
On the Facebook page Northern Cape Cricket, deepest condolences were extended to Adams’ family.
“A gentle soul who never let us down at Northern Cape Cricket, he was always a phone call away for any troubles the stadium faced, and always done it with a smile. Sieta as most of us knew him, was a true gentleman, with a contagious laughter second to none,” the post read.
In another post, Romano Bezuidenhout wrote: “I grew up with Faiek Adams and his sisters in De Beers. I later discovered we colleagues and he was always willing to assist. Faiek use to call me ‘Mr. Tram’ cause I would always phone him if we had electric issues with the tram, he was such a pure and beautiful soul. Condolences to the family, his friends and his colleagues. You will be sadly missed.”
