The finals of the Kimberley Public Library’s MobiReadathon were held on 14 August.
The competition is organised annually by libraries of the City of Johannesburg, and this year marked the second time schools from Kimberley participated.
Participants read stories and answered questions online during the preliminary rounds.
The two top participating schools were selected, and the readers who answered the fastest and most accurately were chosen to represent their schools at the finals.
To prepare for the final round, learners read four short stories in advance before competing online once more, testing both their reading comprehension and computer skills.
