COLESBERG – One person in Colesberg in the Northern Cape may have been waking up every morning for months, completely unaware that he or she is more than R65 million richer.

A Lotto jackpot worth R65 186 997,40 remains unclaimed after the winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at a retail outlet in Colesberg for just R20. The ticket matched all six winning numbers in the Lotto draw held on 31 December 2025.

The winning numbers were 4, 5, 10, 16, 22, 45. The bonus ball was 25.

In a close-knit community like Colesberg, where so many people know one another, there’s every chance the country’s newest multimillionaire is someone locals pass in the supermarket, greet in the street or sit next to at church. A spokesperson for Sizekhaya Holdings said in a statement that the winner may simply have forgotten to check a ticket tucked into a wallet, handbag, kitchen drawer or knick-knack holdall in the entrance hall.

Sizekhaya Holdings has been the operator of South Africa’s National Lottery since 1 June this year.

The consortium urges everyone who bought a Lotto ticket in Colesberg around New Year’s Eve to take a few minutes to look for their tickets and check the numbers.

“It would be heartbreaking for such a life-changing prize to go unclaimed simply because someone forgot about a ticket,” says Fundi Sithebe, Chief Operating Officer at Sizekhaya, home of the National Lottery.

Lottery winners have 365 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. That means time is running out for Colesberg’s mystery millionaire.
