GAUTENG – A Lotto player could be sitting on a fortune without even knowing it, with a R13.2 million prize still unclaimed and the winning ticket nearing its expiry date.
Sizekhaya Holdings, the operator responsible for National Lottery winner services, is urging players to search through old tickets before it is too late.
The winning ticket was purchased at Bluebell Supermarket and Wholesalers in Carletonville, Gauteng, for Lotto draw 2590 on 1 November 2025.
With the prize still unclaimed, the search is on for the person who could be more than R13 million richer.
An old ticket could be worth millions
Players who bought Lotto tickets at the Carletonville retailer around the time of the draw are being urged to check them as soon as possible.
“That ticket could be tucked away in an old wallet, handbag, drawer or somewhere else it was forgotten. Anyone who regularly buys lottery tickets is encouraged to check their old entries rather than assume they were not winners.
“This is a significant prize, and we do not want the rightful winner to miss out on a life-changing opportunity,” said Whitney Mafatle, winner service manager at Sizekhaya Holdings.
“We urge everyone who purchased a Lotto ticket at Bluebell Supermarket and Wholesalers around 1 November 2025 to check their tickets. It could be worth more than R13 million.”
What happens if the prize goes unclaimed?
The R13.2 million prize is among several National Lottery prizes still waiting to be claimed across South Africa.
If the winner does not come forward before the claim period expires, the money will be transferred to the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, which supports various good causes across the country.
While those funds may eventually benefit communities, the rightful winner would miss out on the prize.
Sizekhaya is encouraging players to make checking their tickets a regular habit, particularly after winning numbers are announced.
Anyone who discovers a potential winning ticket should keep the original safe and follow the official prize-claim process.
Think you could be the winner?

With the expiry date approaching, a quick search through old tickets could prove worthwhile. If you bought a Lotto ticket in Carletonville around 1 November last year, now is the time to check.
