The newly elected president of Athletics Griqualand West (AGW) is Lorato Banda.

Banda and his board members will be responsible to steer the federation for the next four years.

They were elected on Saturday (19/02) during a meeting which was presided over by James Moloi, president of Athletics South Africa (ASA) and Terrence Magogidela (ASA CEO).

History was also made as Banda is the first ever black president elected for AGW.

The rest of the board members are Ockie Vermeulen (vice president), Piet Mokoena (chairperson: road running), Marisa Kruger (chairperson: track and field), Gavin Peterson (chairperson: cross country), Keith Blanket (additional member: technical), Thataetsile Moremedi (additional member: athlete representative) and Mase Mogorisi (additional member: female athletes representative).
