The Northern Cape’s Griquas rugby team is now known as the Windhoek Draught Griquas, and the stadium will be known as Windhoek Draught Park.
This change from the name of Tafel Lager Griquas was announced on 1 April by Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver and List Group.
Daniel Keulder, NBL global sponsorship and events manager, said with an internal shift in focus from Tafel Lager to the Windhoek trademark in South Africa, it made sense to change the sponsoring brand.
“Namibia Breweries Limited has built a fantastic relationship with Griquas Rugby under the Tafel Lager brand and would like to continue this under the Windhoek Draught Brand for the coming years,” he said.
