Two foreign national males are expected to appear in the De Aar Magistrate’s Court soon on counts of kidnapping and theft of a vehicle.
It is alleged that the kidnapped female victim (30) had employed the two men as bricklayers as she was building and renovating her house in De Aar.
Capt. Olebogeng Tawana, police spokesperson, said on Monday (13/06) the two allegedly kidnapped the woman and stuffed her in the boot of her Audi Q2 and drove off with her.
She was in possession of her cellphone and managed to communicate with her mother via WhatsApp about the kidnapping ordeal and theft of her vehicle.
Her mother immediately alerted the police about the incident and police members in De Aar reacted promptly and launched a search and tracing operation.
The particulars of the victim and the vehicle were also circulated.
De Aar SAPS members, Sgt Riaan van Wyk and Sgt Jam Tyers, with the owner of Landile Security Services, Kennedy Khubashe, collaborated during the search and trace of operation.
The search and tracing operation led the team to the Grasmere filling station on the N1 south of Johannesburg and found the suspects in possession of the reported stolen vehicle with the victim bundled in the boot. The victim sustained bruises as a result of the scuffle ensued during the kidnapping.
With the assistance of the Johannesburg Highway Patrol and private security personnel at Grasmere, the suspects were apprehended and arrested.
The district commander of Pixley ka Seme, Brig. Nomana Adonis, expressed her gratitude to all the roleplayers who were involved in the apprehension and arrest of the suspects, as well as the safe return of the victim.
