A total of 806 MK1 and MK6 cartridges were confiscated by the police in Philipstown during a routine patrol on Sunday (13/11).
A 53-year-old suspect could not account for the cartridges, and was apprehended and detained for the illegal possession of ammunition.
Lt Col. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) was informed, who confirmed that further investigation will follow regarding the incident.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
