The Northern Cape Diamonds netball team secured a win this past weekend after beating Free State Sonoblomo 55 – 47 on Sunday (11/06) in the Telkom Netball League (TNL) at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria.

After the game, the Diamonds’ Andiswa Dlamini, a first-year student at the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley, received her second player of the match award of the season.

The previous day, the Limpopo Baobabs beat Diamonds 59 – 44; with Diamonds remaining in fourth place on the division 2 log.

At the resumption of the second and last leg of TNL matches earlier in June, the Mpumalanga Sunbirds beat Diamonds 49 – 26, and the Western Cape Tornados beat them 57 – 38.

However, during the first leg in late April, Diamonds secured a second place on the division 2 log standing after winning all three of their matches. During each of these matches, the Diamonds produced a player of the match.

The second leg of the league will conclude by 1 July.

The Diamonds’ next game is on Friday (16/06) at 10:00 against the Tornados at the Heartfelt Arena.
