To inform businesses in and around Jan Kempdorp of services required by 93 Ammunition Depot, a first decentralised supplier information session will take place at the unit on Thursday, 29 June, starting at 08:00.
93 Ammunition Depot, a military unit of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), is looking to attract suppliers of food, vehicle repairs, plumbing, electrical fitting, general services, and other essential hygiene commodities, according to a media release.
This is meant to help create employment opportunities and ensure that the military unit prioritises local businesses to take the opportunity to render services to meet its needs and to contribute towards the stimulation of local economy, it is stated.
To source these services from the area and surrounding communities, the SANDF chief of Logistics, Lt. Gen. Xolani Ndlovu, will host this supplier information.
It is stated that the SANDF units and bases situated outside Gauteng have for the longest of time struggled to source and retain local suppliers who may be interested to do business with military units.
This have been caused by businesses’ lack of awareness for services required by those units, as well as procedures that need to be followed to provide services to the SANDF.
