The Alpha Primary School in De Aar recently received a container library, donated by AVBOB. This society decided a couple of years back to donate over 60 fully stocked libraries to under-privileged schools across South Africa. The container library donated to Alpha was AVBOB’s 65th container library to be donated, said Carl van der Riet, CEO at AVBOB Mutual Society. Each container library contains 3 000 books and is built by AVBOB industries in Bloemfontein. The container library is a step towards an improved future for learner performance in literacy and numeracy, Van der Riet said, commenting that AVBOB is grateful to the Department of Basic Education for allowing them to become a partner in support of education.
