During next week South Africans again have the opportunity to explore national parks without having to pay an entrance fee.

This forms part of the South African National Parks’ (Sanparks) 18th annual South African National Parks Week, which commences on Saturday, 16 September, and runs until Sunday, 24 September.

Since its inception in 2006, the week-long campaign has seen an influx of over 691 418 day visitors in all participating parks, said Hapiloe Sello, chief executive officer (CEO) of Sanparks.

The campaign grants free access to most of the 21 national parks for day visitors who are South African citizens. This free access does not involve free access to accommodation facilities and tourist activities.
